At your plan meeting, we talk to you about what sort of supports you will get from the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

This page explains what will happen in your plan meeting.

What your plan meeting will be about

Your plan meeting will be about your new NDIS plan.

Your NDIS plan is a document that has information about:

  • you and your goals
  • the supports you need
  • the funding the NDIS will give you

Funding is the money from your plan that pays for the supports you need.

Your NDIA planner will create your plan before the meeting.

An NDIA planner is someone who:

  • works for the NDIA
  • makes new plans
  • changes plans
  • develops your plan budget.

Your plan meeting can be:

  • face-to-face
  • by phone
  • online, using Microsoft Teams

You can bring a support person to this meeting if you want to.

Your NDIA planner will show you the plan they have made for you.

They will explain their decisions about the supports you will get.

You can ask questions about their decisions.

Your NDIA planner will also tell you when your next check-in will be.

A check-in is when we talk with you about how your supports are going.

You will have a check-in once a year.

You might have more check-ins if:

  • your situation changes
  • you need to change your plan.

Changing your plan

Your NDIA planner will check that your plan has the supports you need.

They will ask you questions about your life.

For example:

  • what supports you get
  • what your goals are.

You can also ask for:

  • more support
  • less support
  • a different type of support.

You can share information about why you want to change your supports.

Your NDIA planner might work with you to change your plan if they agree with you.

Sometimes they can change your plan in the meeting.

But another NDIA planner might need to agree to the changes first.

You can still use your plan while another NDIA planner checks what you want to change.

We will also share the plan with your NDIS partner.

NDIS partners are people who help others find and use services.

They will meet with you to talk about:

  • how to start using your plan
  • how to get the most out of your plan

Getting supports for you

Your new plan will be in the my NDIS participant portal and app when it is ready.

You can find out more on our page about the my NDIS participant portal and app.

You can tell your NDIA planner if there are any providers you would like to work with.

Providers support people who take part in the NDIS by delivering a service.

Your NDIA planner can use the my NDIS portal to ask providers if they can work with you.

You might already work with some providers.

If you tell your NDIA planner who they are, we can put their names in your plan.

Providers listed in your plan are called ‘my providers’.

Providers need your consent to look at parts of your plan.

When you give your consent, you say it is ok for someone to do something.

You can tell us in your meeting if you want to give consent to your providers.

You can give your consent for different providers to see different parts of the plan.

And you can change your consent whenever you want to
